Mar 18, 2008 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Eric Schmidt, CEO and chair of web search and internet advertising group Google, has visited Australia. He commented that after gaining regulatory approval for the acquisition of DoubleClick at $US3.1bn ($A3.35bn), it will boost its display ads business. At the moment, it gains almost all its revenue from paid text ads on the web that link to its searches. Google has struck a deal with Australian telco Singtel Optus for content sharing and search provision.
