QLD: Inquiry in last day after almost six weeks of hearings
The Queensland electoral rorts inquiry is expected to finish public hearings today
after almost six weeks investigating Labor Party vote-rigging.
However, Counsel Assisting the Shepherdson Inquiry, RUSSELL HANSON, QC, hasn't ruled
out further public hearings.
He said the inquiry - chaired by former Supreme Court judge TOM SHEPHERDSON - hoped
to hear oral and written submissions from witnesses before Christmas.
Deputy Premier JIM ELDER quit the Labor ministry a fortnight ago and backbencher GRANT
MUSGROVE also quit after confessing to electoral rorting.
Another two state Labor MPs, MIKE KAISER and GARY FENLON, have been implicated in rorting
at the inquiry by key witness LEE BERMINGHAM.
